In recent months, Lawyer.se has been part of two significant deals involving Swedish videogame companies.
In one of them, Umeå-based studio MVRX Games signed with an international publisher for its upcoming co-op game Dew.
«My job was to be that experienced lawyer who can explain each part of the agreement and advise on what is standard and what can be improved,» said Tommy Persson, founder of Lawyer.se.
Linus Adolfsson, co-founder of MVRX Games, said, «Lawyer has been a valued support throughout the entire process. They have been professional, efficient, and very pleasant to work with. Their advice has helped us minimize risks while also creating good conditions for the deal.»
Lawyer also advised FunRock, which signed a new client for the development of an unnamed game. This deal was different, as FunRock has an established business model and long track record of game developments for game stores and publishers.
«Here we worked more proactively, creating the agreement and sending it to the other party,» Tommy said.
«Working with Lawyer.se has been very smooth. Tommy is thorough and ensures all key aspects are covered. Their strong understanding of the gaming industry adds real value, helping us save time, reduce costs, and avoid blind spots,» said Magdy Shehata, CEO of FunRock.
As both MVRX and FunRock negotiated with counterparts they hadn’t worked with before, that presents certain challenges, Tommy said. «There’s always that unknown, what works and what doesn’t. It’s always interesting working with a new counterpart.»
Both deals also mark an exciting move forward, as MVRX gets an influx of cash into its work on Dew, and FunRock moves into a new market.
Lawyer.se looks forward to seeing what will come out of both these ventures.
